Year 2 Christingles

Lesson: Religious education

Class: Year 2 Year: 2015 - 2016

On Thursday as part of our studies into the celebration of Christmas across the world we spoke about Christingles. We learnt that they actually started out in Germany in the 1700s but then came across to England in the 1960s.

Although they are a great decorative piece, each part has a meaning to Christians:

ORANGE- the world

RED RIBBON- the blood of Jesus running through the world

COCKTAIL STICKS- the 4 seasons

SWEETS ON TOP-  the gifts from God.

CANDLE- the light of Jesus shining over the world.
